To see this is to need it--very popular with hobby greenhouse growers as will produce small more highly colored leaves all winter in full sun than it seems to unfurl in the summer bog's heat--absolutely will not tolerate chill. A note of warning: the young juvenile foliage is typically solid green so you must grow this on in balmy condition to achieve the larger mature foliage displaying the dramatic starburst centers. And thus sometimes in Asian texts as 'Laciniata' even though not exactly lacinate! This tassled rare dwarf is petite enough to be perfect in a terrarium, yet quite able to cope with humidity levels of the windowsill or litegarden. Always one of the most popular dwarf ferns we offer--it looks difficult to grow, but is not. Certainly the most Lalique of any small statured plants.

41488 COPROSMA KIRKII VARIEGATA [HYB] RUB CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.75 "Dwarf Mirror Plant" Dwarf densely branched willowy stems with small waxy lance leaves margined bright white; said to produce nearly translucent flowers dotted scarlet, which are followed by creamy white berries. C. acerosa x repens hybrid demanding full sun to flourish. Wonderful cascading from a hanging basket or from a summer windowbox; very popular with topiary designers as can readily be pinned to the mossed frame to form a wonderful peacock' s tail, or the white stripes of a zebra, and so on.

65668 CORDYLINE AUSTRALIS ATROPURPUREA LIL CGH HP PRICE: $ 5.00 The "Bronze Australian Sword" or more likely, the "False Red Dracaena" with stout decorative stems crowded by elegant clumps of stiff dramatically arching spike leaves toned pinkish bronze in full sun. A fabulous color version of the spiked "Lily Grass" traditionally used in summer urns. With age will become a fountain of dusky bronzed purple atop a woody trunk. So use for a summer urn and abandon to the frost gods or rescue for a winter houseplant.

68454 CORDYLINE TERMINALIS PURPLE COMPACTA AGA TGH PRICE: $ 6.50 Emerging shrimp tones age to a rich saturated purple on the arched leaves of this "Dwarf Ti Plant"--the individual papery textured leaves are short but wide. In our conditions (not in Hawaii) the purple fades to a gorgeous greyish rust. See pictures. Very compact with leaves shorter than normal and right on top of each other. I have seen this listed in Florida as "Dusky Queen."

59108 CORDYLINE TERMINALIS KIWI AGA TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 Urn plant as well as a great subject for your indoor gardens come Fall. Kiwi is one of the most compact with good gold and ash green striped color. It does wonderfully in the house and grows moderately slow. Great for an accent plant.

Eventually a large and full growing type, it remains rather rare as is very reluctant to offset even in Ohio's tropical conditions.

51152 CRINUM JAPONICUM SHIMA-IRE AMARY CGH PRICE: $ 35.00 Large clone with bright central banded variegation on each ( broad fleshy leaf held in a crown of foliage above the long necked stem); R. Bennett's excellent clone which presents impressively fragrant blossoms--these immense heads of tubular ivory flowers are best initiated by letting the old mature bulb dry enough during the summer to enter a dormancy period. Start watering (or simply set in a pan kept full of water) heavily early fall to bring forth the richly scented winter flowers along with fresh brightly variegated foliage.

51029 CRINUM MOOREI VARIEGATUM AMARY CGH TGH 35.00 Variegated form of "Longneck Swamp Lily" of Natal; broad, nearly succulent leaves with creamy white and straw yellow stripes, usually with bright green rim top a somewhat woody trunk or "neck" adding much drama. Tulip shaped pale pink quickly fading to pearl white flowers in nodding clusters. This most showy. "Veldt Lily" needs to be dormant during most of the hot summer in order to re-sprout and bloom mid-winter. Reaches considerable girth--but always earns its space with a spectacular display of striking foliage and showy blossoms.

51032 CRINUM ST. CHRISTOPHER [HYB] AMARY CGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Tulip Crinum" Fragrant snowwhite tulip shaped-cupped flower clusters over compact vases of fleshy evergreen leaves. We cannot categorically testify that the lovely blossoms reliably appear on St. Christopher's Day when grown in Ohio; we have received reports that customers have bloomed this in a sunny window with regular fertilizer and feet in a shallow bowl of water (no, the customers did not necessarilly keep their feet in shallow water).
