The purpose of this site is to tell interested
individuals a little about Gardenview,
and let them know how to get here.
What is Gardenview
Gardenview was started in 1949, by an ordinary
individual without money; whose only asset
was a vision of an "oasis of beauty" to be enjoyed
not only by its present visitors, but by future
generation as well...hopefully forever.
What started out as 16 acres of swampy
blue and yellow clay; overgrown with blackberry brambles
and weeds... has slowly been transformed
into the world-renowned and beautiful gardens which exist today.
There are numerous gardens, of various shapes
and sizes; fitting together , like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, into
one large picture 6 acres in size. There is also
a 10 acre arboretum, containing 2500 unusual trees
(including 500 varieties of flowering crabapples),
underplanted with thousands of daffodils.
In 1961 Gardenview was given to the public, AS
A GIFT, the only condition being that it must
forever remain a Horticultural Park for
the enjoyment of all. Title to the property is held, in perpetuity,
by a non-profit corporation which has, as its
responsibility, the obligation to administer the Park
for the benefit, and on behalf of the general
public. Gardenview is exempt from real estate and other taxes
and all contributions to it are tax deductible
as a charitable contribution under provisions of IRS 501 (c)(3)
PURPOSE

rare and uncommon plants... from all over
the world... and to display them in English Cottage
Garden settings.
1. to provide enjoyment to visitors
2. To demonstrate the art of English Cottage Gardening as well as
traditional perennial borders
3. To give an opportunity, to those wishing to do so... to adapt these

planting combinations to their own gardens.

What's in bloom?
The gardens here are made up primarily of
unusual, uncommon and
rare plants collected from all over the world,
with special emphasis
on plants with variegated, silver, golden, or
colored foliage.
Things begin to bloom about mid-February and,
every 10 days or
two weeks, there is something entirely different
in bloom
until November.
As a non-profit, tax-exempt institution; the Gardenview
Horticultural Park can only
continue to exist if there are enough people
who appreciate it enough to support it
financially; to whatever extent they are able;
and in any way in
which they can help.
You can help in any of the following ways
1. Take out a Membership
2. Contribute to the Endowment Fund. This can be anywhere from $1.00
to a million or more.
3. Volunteer to help develop or to maintain the gardens and grounds.
4. Donate needed materials; such as equipment, mulch, peat moss, sand
fertilizer, bricks, stone, garden benches, top soil, lumber, building
materials, etc.
5. Anything else that you are able to do
